Good gracious, Zach is talented.  Missing you buddy. :-)

My brother Seth sat out in the garage with me tonight, playing old Tom Waits songs on his guitar and smoking cigarettes while I painted.  We shared a bottle of his whiskey, and it was my favorite night spent painting in some time.  Any painting’s gonna be a hell of a lot better if you’ve got your brother playing Fannin St. by your side.

Whoa! Astute points on why that rally was so obnoxious to me

I tried - blithely unsuccessful in its inarticulate rambling - to explain why the Stewart/Colbert rally vexed me beyond belief, but this guy sums it up beautifully here: http://exiledonline.com/the-rally-to-restore-vanity-generation-x-celebrates-its-homeric-struggle-against-lameness/

Though, I wholeheartedly disagree with his recommendations at the close of the article, due in large part to his narrow reading of the Constitution, and an altogether ridiculously broad swipe at Libertarianism as a whole.  But kudos to the man for pointing out the inanity of this sobering event, which might just be the kick-in-the-ass end to our incessant need for irony already.

Best three children’s book titles, written by my classes:

Aliens Attack Bubba’s Farm: Oh-oh-oh-oh-no!

Chris the Beefy Taco (Cool People from the Hood)

The Hero: Quest for the Golden Earwax

Wish I could somehow submit the incredible accompanying illustrations…

Sufjan

How excited am I about Sufjan Stevens on Tuesday?  So thrilled, I’m lacking the proper word.  The Age of Adz is predictably boundless in greatness.  What can I say?  The kid abides and he causes me some stumbling in expression.  For this?  No words.  Just that inexpressible joy I associate with this music, cuz it speaks to my soul like none other.  Oh blessings!

fuckyeahmashups:

This is not a mashup. In fact, it’s not even music related in any way shape or form. But it’s something I think is important and I’m going to exploit this tumblr for all it’s worth and hopefully at least one of the almost 19,000 of you who follow us will get something out of this. (See? We’re really not such bad people after all)
